1. Baptism Certificates from the church of your baptism (Current Copy)
Note: *** If the couple or one of the party is not from St. Francis, a letter of freedom to Marry is required from his/her pastor.
***If the couple is from another parish within or outside the Diocese of Oakland, a letter of permission to marry is required from the couple's pastor.
***If a couple registered as parishioners of SFA plans to be married in another parish or outside the Diocese, a meeting with the pastor or any clergy is required to approve the proposed wedding.
*** If the one of the parties is not Catholic or not a Christian, a meeting with the priest or any clergy must happen first due to a required process of dispensation.

The matrimonial covenant, by which a man and a woman establish between themselves a partnership of the whole of life, is by its nature ordered toward the good of the spouses and the procreation and education of offspring; this covenant between baptized persons has been raised by Christ the Lord to the dignity of a sacrament (CCC 1601).
